Control your PC without opening the app

Turn Off PC can power your computer without you even opening the app. With Turn Off PC Pro (subscription) or the one-time Power Pack purchase you unlock a set of one-tap shortcuts that live exactly where you need them — your home screen, the system controls, and Siri.

This guide explains each option and how to set it up on Android and iOS.

What you can do

Every quick-access method triggers one of the four power actions on any of your devices:

ActionWhat it doesNeeds the desktop app?
Shut downTurns the PC offYes
SleepPuts the PC to sleepYes
RestartReboots the PCYes
Wake upPowers the PC on via Wake-on-LANNo (uses WoL)

Quick-access actions work just like inside the app: locally on your network, and remotely only if that device is set up for remote access with a VPN connected. Waking a remote PC also needs Remote Wake-on-LAN configured.

🔔 You always get feedback. Even with the app closed, every quick-access action sends a notification with the result — so you know right away that it worked.

Available on each platform

Not every option exists on both systems — here's where each one lives:

Home screen widgets
Quick Settings tile
Samsung Modes & Routines✅ (Galaxy)
Siri Shortcuts
Control Center✅ (18+)

Each one is covered in its own section below.

How to unlock it

These features are part of the Pro experience. You can unlock them in two ways:

Open the app and go to the upgrade screen to choose the option that fits you best.

Home screen widgets (Android & iOS)

Add a Turn Off PC widget to your home screen for instant access to a device and action:

  1. Long-press an empty area of your home screen.
  2. Open the widget picker and find Turn Off PC.
  3. Drag the widget you want onto the screen.
  4. Configure the device and action it controls.

Tapping the widget sends the action straight to your PC — no need to open the app.

Android: Quick Settings tile

On Android you can add a Quick Settings tile to the panel you pull down from the top of the screen.

  1. Swipe down to open the Quick Settings panel.
  2. Tap the edit button (usually a pencil icon).
  3. Find the Turn Off PC tile and drag it into your active tiles.
  4. Open the app's tile settings to choose the device and action the tile controls.

The tile shows the action name and the device it points to. Tap it any time to run that action. If you haven't set it up yet, tapping the tile opens the app so you can finish the configuration.

Android: Samsung Modes & Routines (Galaxy phones)

On Samsung Galaxy phones you can expose device + action combos as shortcuts that Samsung Modes & Routines, Bixby and your home screen can trigger:

  1. Open the app's Samsung Routines settings.
  2. Pick the device + action combos you want to expose (up to your phone's shortcut limit).
  3. In Samsung Modes & Routines, add a Turn Off PC shortcut as a routine action — or drop it on your home screen.

Each shortcut runs its action with a single tap, so you can wire PC power into your automations — for example, shut down your PC when you start a Good night routine.

📖 See the full step-by-step, the per-device shortcut limit and troubleshooting in the Samsung Modes & Routines guide.

iOS: Siri Shortcuts

On iOS you can control your PC with your voice. Create a shortcut, name it anything in your own language ("Hey Siri, good night"), and even add it to your home screen or an automation.

📖 See the full walkthrough, example and troubleshooting in the Control your PC with Siri guide.

iOS: Control Center (iOS 18 and later)

On iOS 18 or later you can add a Turn Off PC button to Control Center:

  1. Swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center.
  2. Tap the + in the top-left corner to edit it.
  3. Tap Add a Control and choose the Turn Off PC control.
  4. Pick the device and action for the button.

The control then sits in Control Center, one tap away from anywhere on your phone.
