Turn Off PC — Mobile App
Last updated: 13 August 2026 · Effective as of: 13 August 2026
Marcos Salas ("I", "me", "my") built the Turn Off PC mobile app as a freemium application: it is free to download and supported by advertising, and it also offers optional paid subscriptions and one-time purchases that remove ads and unlock additional features.
This page informs you about my policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information when you use the Turn Off PC mobile app (the "Service"). If you use the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Data controller: Marcos Salas — support@turnoffpc.com
This policy covers the mobile app only. The Turn Off PC Desktop application has its own separate privacy policy.
Terms of Use:
- Google Play: play.google.com/intl/en_us/about/play-terms
- Apple: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula
What stays on your device (and never reaches me)
Turn Off PC has no server of my own. All the information you enter to control your computers is stored locally on your phone and is never uploaded to me:
- Device names and icons
- Local IP addresses, external IP addresses or hostnames, and ports
- MAC addresses (used for Wake-on-LAN)
- Operating system type and connection settings
- Your ordering, filters, theme and language preferences
This data is stored in a local database on your device and, if you use home screen widgets or Quick Settings tiles, is also mirrored into the app's local storage so those shortcuts can work.
When you send a command (shutdown, restart, sleep, wake), your phone talks directly to your own computer or to the address you configured — over your local network, your VPN or your own external IP. The command does not pass through any server operated by me.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of this data.
Information collected by third-party services
The app uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you or your device. Their privacy policies apply to that processing:
- Google Play Services — app distribution, updates, in-app review
- Google AdMob — advertising in the free version
- Google Analytics for Firebase — anonymous usage analytics
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash and error reporting
- Firebase Remote Config — remote feature configuration
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management
Advertising (free version only)
If you use the free version, ads are served by Google AdMob, which may access your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / Apple IDFA) and approximate device and network information to serve and measure ads.
- In the EEA, UK and Switzerland you are shown a Google-certified consent form before personalised ads are enabled. If you do not consent, you will only see non-personalised ads.
- On iOS you are asked separately, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, whether the app may track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- You can change your choice at any time: on Android through your device's Google settings ("Ads" / "Delete advertising ID"), and on iOS through Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Users with an active Pro or "Remove Ads" purchase are not shown ads, and the advertising SDK is not initialised.
Usage analytics
Google Analytics for Firebase collects pseudonymous usage data. It is tied to a randomly generated app instance identifier, not to your name or email. It includes:
- Which commands you send and from where (app, widget, Quick Settings tile), the connection type used (local or remote) and the operating system of the target computer
- How many devices you have configured, and when devices are added, deleted or reordered
- App lifecycle events: first launch, tutorial, intro, FAQ and documentation views
- Preferences: app language and theme
- Purchase funnel: plans shown, plan selected, purchase started, completed, failed or restored, plan identifier and localised price
It does not include device names, IP addresses, MAC addresses or hostnames of your computers.
To connect purchase events with usage analytics, the app's Firebase app instance identifier is shared with RevenueCat. Both identifiers are randomly generated and are not linked to your real-world identity by me.
Purchases
Payments are processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. I never receive or store your payment card, billing address or full name. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase and subscription history, store country and basic device information in order to validate entitlements and restore purchases across your devices.
Crash and diagnostic data (Log Data)
Whenever an error occurs in the app, Firebase Crashlytics collects diagnostic data from your device, including your device's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device model and name, operating system version, app version and configuration, the time and date of the error, and the stack trace of the failure.
Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)
- Personalised advertising and related identifiers: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), collected through the Google consent form and the ATT prompt, and withdrawable at any time.
- Non-personalised advertising: legitimate interest in funding a free app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Usage analytics: your consent where required, otherwise legitimate interest in improving the app.
- Crash reporting: legitimate interest in keeping the app stable and secure.
- Processing purchases and subscriptions: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Responding to your support emails: legitimate interest, or your consent.
Data retention
- Data stored on your device: kept until you delete the device entry or uninstall the app.
- Analytics data: individual event-level and user-level records are retained by Google for the retention period configured for this app (up to 14 months) and are then deleted automatically. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics derived from them (such as total users, totals per event and long-term trends) are kept indefinitely and cannot be linked back to an individual device or user.
- Crash reports: retained by Crashlytics for up to 90 days.
- Purchase records: retained by RevenueCat and by the app stores for as long as needed to manage your entitlements and to meet their legal and accounting obligations.
- Support emails: kept for as long as needed to handle your request.
International data transfers
The third-party providers listed above (Google LLC and RevenueCat Inc.) are based in the United States and may process your data outside the European Economic Area. These transfers rely on the safeguards those providers put in place, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
To exercise these rights, contact me at support@turnoffpc.com. Because most of your data is stored only on your device and the rest is pseudonymous, I may ask you for information (such as your app instance identifier or a purchase receipt) in order to locate the relevant records.
If you are in Spain, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) at www.aepd.es, or with your local supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Refusing the ad consent prompt, or purchasing an ad-free plan, has that effect. I do not sell personal information for money.
Service providers
I may employ third-party companies and individuals in order to facilitate the Service, to provide the Service on my behalf, to perform Service-related services, or to assist me in analysing how the Service is used. These third parties have access to your personal information only to perform these tasks on my behalf, and are contractually obliged not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
Cookies and similar technologies
The app itself does not use cookies. However:
- The advertising and analytics SDKs it embeds may use cookies or similar identifiers to provide and improve their services.
- The app can open the online setup guides from turnoffpc.com inside an in-app browser view. Those pages are served without analytics or advertising cookies.
You can accept or refuse advertising consent through the prompt described above. If you refuse, the app remains fully functional and shows non-personalised ads.
Security
I value your trust and use commercially acceptable means to protect your information. Please note:
- Your device list is stored unencrypted in the app's private storage on your phone, which the operating system isolates from other apps.
- Communication between the app and your computer travels over your own local network, VPN or internet connection, and is not encrypted. Use the remote features over a VPN or a network you trust, and do not expose your computer's ports to the open internet unnecessarily.
- No method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, so I cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Links to other sites
This Service may contain links to other sites, including turnoffpc.com, the documentation site, app store listings and advertisers' websites. Those sites are not operated by me, and I have no control over and assume no responsibility for their content, privacy policies or practices. I encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Children's Privacy
This Service is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the minimum age of digital consent in their country (which is 14 in Spain and up to 16 elsewhere in the EEA). If I become aware that a child below that age has provided personal information, I will take steps to have it deleted from the third-party services described above. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided such information, please contact me at support@turnoffpc.com.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically. Changes are effective as soon as they are posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date at the top is revised accordingly.
